North Queensland would not be complete without a visit to Kuranda
Village.
Kuranda

mining and logging was a big industry on the Atherton

away among the dense tropical rainforest, you can stroll through

tourist destination and recognised for its famous "Kuranda
Markets". Whether
it be a stroll around the famous markets where you will find a variety
of local arts and crafts or to taking a rainforest walk along the many
marked tracks ora 1 hour cruise on the Barron river. You may wish to
spend time at one of thee many village attractions such as Koala
Gardens, where you can have your photo taken with a koala. See
Wallabies, Wombats, Crocodiles and other Australian wildlife.
Visit the
Australian Butterfly Sanctuary where you can walk amongst over 1500
tropical butterflies. Finding you way to Kuranda Village can be as
exciting as the visit itself. Skyrail Rainforest Cableway takes you on a
journey between Caravonica and Kuranda over the rainforest canopy with
breathtaking views of the Coral Sea and stops at Red Peak and Barron
Falls. The Kuranda Scenic Railway winds its way through 15 tunnels and
over 36 bridges from Cairns to Kuranda Village with a photo stop at
Stoney Creek falls, and affords some spectacular scenery en route. It
does not matter which direction you travel on Skyrail or the Kuranda
Scenic Train the experience is exhilarating. This
vibrant little village is only 27 km North West of Cairns City and has a
small population of approx 800.
For a
